World of Warcraft Leveling Guide

Leveling With Lightning Speed and Great FunZygors Guide 2.0

You want to level fast, and a WoW leveling guide will help you do just that. To help you on your way here are some important level specific tips. The important thing to bear in mind when leveling is that you need to keep your experience bar moving as much as possible.

Minimizing your downtime (i.e. time spent eating, drinking, walking or flying from point to point) is key. The best technique for minimizing downtime is completing as many quests as possible in an area before returning to a quest hub (A village or camp with any number of quest NPCs) so you aren’t needlessly running around too much.

Leveling without proper guidance can be done, but is hard and will take up more time. In-game Leveling Guides are great time savers.

Level 1 through level 20

The early levels pass quickly, though they can be in many cases the most annoying levels to work through. Your character, regardless of their class, has very few abilities before level 10, and most of the truly useful spells and attacks are not added to your arsenal until level 20 and higher.

For this reason, it’s important to clear quest hubs entirely before moving on, and try to stay at least one level ahead of the quests you are doing (i.e. steering clear of quests that require you to kill level 5 monsters until you are level 6) so that the range monsters will engage you from shrinks, and you run less risk of getting caught in a cluster of enemies and dying.

Contrary to what many people may tell you, it is not dead wrong to spend time killing monsters if they don’t give you quest credit. Especially after level 8, you’ll start to see barely any movement in your experience points from a monster kill, which can be discouraging, but they are by no means worthless.

When doing collection quests in particular, it is far more efficient to kill any monsters in your way rather than waste time dodging around or running from them. It keeps your brain engaged and entertained, and before you know it your quest will be finished, and the monsters you had to clear through have given you between 4% and 8% of your level.

Even though quest turn ins are large chunks of experience, the simple truth of the matter is that the bulk of your experience points will come from killing monsters, so it’s encouraged that regardless of the class you play, you need to find a way to deal a lot of damage with it. Many of the dungeons you’ll be able to find groups for in these early levels are so simple that often times little or no healing or tanking is required, so you are free to gather damage dealing gear, as well as specialize for damage dealing talents to speed up questing.

Levels 20 through 58

Once you leave the beginning zones and reach level 20 you’ll notice that your experience will move a little faster at first. The quests you’ll be doing in Azeroth from now on were built in original WoW to serve the needs of levels that took much more experience than they do now. The frustrating thing now, can be to  find good quest hubs to suit your needs. While it is good to have a friend to quest with, not everyone has a buddy available all the time, so areas with lots of soloable quests are important.

In-game Leveling Guides will take away a lot of these frustrations, their quest paths are optimized and your main concern will be to “follow the arrow” to get you where you need to go.

For new players, these can be a challenge to find, so a good guideline to stay with is the following:  Alliance- Stick to Redridge, Wetlands, and Duskwood until around level 28-30. There are also some worthwhile  quests in Stonetalon Mountains, but this region is so far out of the way that most serious levelers don’t bother with it.
After that, Hillsbrad Foothills and Arathi Highlands offer a multitude of soloable grinding quests that should carry you up to about level 34, at which point you want to get started in Stranglethorn Vale or Desolace.

Stranglethorn Vale

Stranglethorn Vale, or STV is probably the most predominant quest zone in all the level 1-60 areas, ranging from the early level 30 range to almost level 50.

The primary quests you’ll want to take care of are the Nessingwary hunt quests, and the Rebel Camp quests. Once you get to level 38-40, there are some great quests involving trolls and pirates, but you want to be high enough level to contend with them without risking pulling too many monsters.

You’ll notice that many of the enemies in Stragletorn Vale  have a high damage yield, and some annoying abilities. Once you run out of things to do in STV, go to Tanaris, Feralas, or the Hinterlands to climb your way up to level 48 or higher.

Once you reach level 48 Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, Felwood, Winterspring, Eastern and Western Plaguelands, Un’goro Crater, and Silithus are all great choices, it really just depends on your preference of scenery.

My own pick has always been Western and Eastern Plaguelands, as they each offer a good circular flow of easy quests to complete en masse.

Horde- Thousand Needles, Ashenvale, and Stonetalon Mountains are exceptionally good quest areas for Horde, Stonetalon especially offers a wide level range of extremely easy quests.
Once you reach level 28, you’ll follow roughly the same progression as described for Alliance, though the Horde quests in Desolace begin a few levels higher than those of Alliance, so it’s best to stay away from Desolace in particular until level 37. Also regarding Stranglethorn Vale, the Horde get a much better quest hub location in this zone, central to all the Nessingwary hunt quests and troll ruins.
