Since the introduction of WotLK the paladin class has become really popular. Before the Burning Crusade expansion, paladins were only available to the Alliance fraction and the races to choose from were Human and Dwarf race.  With the release of this expansion and the new available race – the Bloodelves,  Horde players got a chance to roll a paladin as well while Alliance got another race which can play a paladin – the Draenei.

What is specific when it comes to paladins – More about the Paladin – Blessings

Anyone who ever played a paladin or knew a paladin will tell you that this class is specific for its

  • blessings and
  • auras.

These come as very useful buffs for other players and for a paladin himself. Depending on a blessing or aura a paladin can grant a player mana regeneration, increased stats, attack power and so on. The most popular blessings are

  • BoK – Blessing of Kings,
  • BoM – Blessing of Might and
  • BoW – Blessing of Wisdom.

A paladin has different auras as well like fire resistance, shadow resistance, concentration aura which helps casters not to get interrupted, and so on.  To get a good talent built a good guide is sure to will you through all the useful tips and tricks for paladins, when to apply a certain aura and which blessings to use.

Depending on your game play you can choose between three paladin talent builds:

  • Retribution,
  • Holy and
  • Protection.

A paladin who would like to spec Retri will be able to significantly increase his damage.

Retribution damage comes from two-handed weapons and can cause damage and crits through both spell and melee power. Retribution paladins are favored by the melee classes in the raid because of their abilities which can be applied to the whole group.

Retri paladins are also very popular in PvP and with the right gear and a lot of resilience they are unbeatable opponents. When it comes to this talent tree, World of Warcraft paladin guide will explain more about the builds both for PvE and PvP Retribution paladins.

The Paladin as Healer

Holy paladins are excellent healers. Even though their healing spells are mostly single target based, Holy paladins are fast and efficient healers with amazing mana regeneration. We can surely say that most other healing classes envy holy palas on their mana efficiency.

Healing paladins need to have a lot of intellect, mp5 (mana per 5 seconds) and a lot of critical strike rating on their gear. Critical strike rating is very important since their healing efficiency depends on it.

The Paladin as Tank

We also mentioned that the paladins can be good tanks. This is completely true. With the Burning Crusade expansion paladins became appreciated as tanks more than ever. Even some raid encounters and tactics required paladins to go tanking because of their aoe tanking abilities which neither a warrior nor a feral druid have.

Through the use of Consecration and Holy Shield protection paladins will make an aoe effect that will deal significant threat. Not only that prot palas can tank, they will make a decent amount of dps even while tanking!

There is another famous ability that made paladins famous,Divine Shield or popularly called “bubble”.

Amazingly useful in PvP and will make your opponents scream, perfect for PvE raiding, in example when your group is wiping and of course there isn’t a single paladin that can get “ganked”. With a bubble he is untouchable and even if bored he can freely heart-stone home and leave an opponent really angry.

What more to say, playing a paladin can’t  be boring and is a class where you can do a lot of fine tuning.
